Pancho Billa brings his #PanchoPower to the NHL Draft, too

Pancho Billa does the NHL Draft too as he continues to fight cancer.

Ezra Castro -- otherwise known as Bills superfan Pancho Billa -- was in the stands at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Friday as the Sabres welcomed Rasmus Dahlin with the No. 1 overall pick. In April, Castro was invited on stage by the Bills at the NFL Draft at AT&T Stadium in Arlington to announce the third-round pick.

The Sabres sent Castro a total of 20 tickets for himself and members of the Dallas-Fort Worth Bills Backers chapter.

Castro, who is president of the chapter, is being treated for stage four cancer. He learned about it last fall, when he had a checkup for what he thought was a pinched nerve. The doctors ran some tests. They discovered Castro, 38, had tumors in his liver, lungs and lymph nodes, and a massive one – wrapped around his spine – that was surgically removed in December.

He has chemotherapy treatment every two weeks, with his latest coming Wednesday.

The NHL Draft came just two days after Castro had his latest chemotherapy treatment.

Fans continue to raise money for Castro via a GoFundMe page to help pay for his treatments and have used the hashtag #PanchoPower on social media to show their support.
