The roads maintained by Erie County are abysmal. The new repairs are an insult to taxpayers and politicians simply ignore the public demands of getting them fixed correctly.
Meanwhile, the roads maintained by New York State are repaved when they are in relatively great condition. I agree with the writer who earlier said we should forget expanding the rail system and concentrate on repaving roads and synchronizing/timing the traffic lights. Just why do we allow the traffic lights from shopping plazas to stop traffic that just got moving a couple hundred feet before? Why can’t the flow of traffic be managed instead occurring haphazardly?
Our elected leaders should be pushing to get more money for these immediate improvements needed within all of Erie County instead of pushing to expand the light rail train system that will benefit few, and has been a failure in ridership and regional benefits from the very beginning.
