Sens. Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand said Friday that the Senate version of the 2019 Pentagon budget includes $14 million to construct a training center, described as an enhanced gymnasium, at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.
If the item survives in the final version of the bill, the senators said the center would enable pilots in the two units at the base to better meet physical training requirements.
"This authorization would help expand NFARS’ facilities so they can continue providing top-notch training to the pilots who keep our nation safe," Gillibrand said.
"As Senate Democratic leader, I vow to keep pushing through the appropriations process for greater investments in NFARS so that it has the tools it needs to maintain mission readiness," Schumer said.
