A man arrested after an attempted knifepoint robbery at a gas station in Jamestown on Thursday night was also charged in connection with a bank robbery committed earlier in the day just outside the city, according to police.
Albert L. Chapman, 34, was taken into custody by police who responded to a robbery-in-progress call at 11:35 p.m. at a Kwik Fill on Forest Avenue, Jamestown police said.
Investigators linked Chapman to a robbery just before noon at the Community Bank on East Main Street in the Town of Ellicott.
Chapman was charged with first- and third-degree robbery and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to police.
Police are still looking to identify the vehicle and driver of a vehicle used to flee the scene of the bank robbery. Investigators believe it was a darker-colored SUV.
