Authorities on Sunday suspended the search for a missing toddler whose mother was found dead on a farm in Wayne County last month.
More than 1,100 first responders searched more than 700 acres in the Town of Sodus over 12 days for 14-month-old Owen Hidalgo-Calderon, Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts told reporters.
The investigation into the child's disappearance remains open and a search effort could be ramped back up when investigators get new information, he said.
The boy's mother, 18-year-old Selena Hidalgo-Calderon, was found dead and buried at a farm on Joy Road in Sodus, police announced May 25. Her boyfriend, Alberto "Ebavardo Gutierrez" Reyes, has been charged with tampering with physical evidence after her body was found in a bag in the woods behind the farm.
Police ask anyone with information about the child's whereabouts to call 315-946-9711.
