Rig operator charged with aggravated DWI after Thruway crash

A tractor-trailer driver was charged with aggravating driving while intoxicated Monday night after a crash on the Thruway in West Seneca, according to the New York State Police.

Albert W. Wheeler Jr., 44, of Moundsville, W. Va., registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.23 percent after the crash, which happened at about 7:30 p.m., police said.

Wheeler was also charged with two counts of DWI in a commercial vehicle, as well as several vehicle and traffic citations, police said. No injuries were reported in the crash.

Wheeler was being held in the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $5,000 bail, according to police.
