'American Idol' expected to have a day of Buffalo auditions without Katy, Lionel, Luke

"American Idol" is coming to Buffalo in the next few months for auditions.

But don't get too excited. It may not be what you think.

Tim Clark, the Buffalo Niagara Film Commissioner, confirmed he has spoken to representatives of the ABC reality series that ended its season with a Monday night finale won by Maddie Poppe.

But he couldn't provide details. An ABC publicity member also wrote in an email that audition cities will be announced in the summer.

According to another source, Buffalo is one of several cities that will have a brief stop on the "American Idol" bus tour. The tour is expected to have one day of auditions here before producers.

In other words, judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan aren't expected to be here and the city won't be the focus of full-blown auditions.

The auditions are for the second season at ABC, which brought back the series a year after it was canceled by Fox because of  high production costs and declining ratings for a series that once was the top series on television.
