Looking for ways to save in Hamburg

Hamburg's two villages and town will be exploring prospects for merging services at a meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Swan Auditorium at Hilbert College, 5200 South Park Ave., Hamburg.

"We plan nothing radical," Town Supervisor James M. Shaw said in a letter to the community. "What we hope to do is discuss creative ideas for making what works, work better."

Members of the Town Board and Blasdell and Hamburg village boards will work through a 16-item agenda that includes items as varied as sharing facilities, collaborating on zoning for municipal boundaries on Camp Road, trails, recreation staff, information technology and training.

Shaw said municipal leaders are looking for suggestions for making local government work now and into the future, and are receptive to constructive criticism.
