Letter: A vote for Bharara as next attorney general

A vote for Bharara as next attorney general

“One hallmark of justice is absolute independence and that was my touchstone every day that I served.”

After that quotation and many other truths, is there any question that Preet Bharara should be appointed as the next New York State Attorney General after the sudden resignation of the disgraced Eric Schneiderman? Just the fact that Trump fired him is, in my opinion, justification for his appointment as our next top cop.

This man did a tremendous amount of good when he served us in the past and I am sure will continue to do so if he is chosen for the future. The actuality that Sheldon Silver was again convicted and that Dean Skelos is waiting in the wings for what, I hope, is the same fate, should convince all of our residents that Mr. Bharara is the prime candidate.

In fact, we should not need a vote. He should be chosen unanimously.

Let us hope that justice prevails for our state.
