It was a disappointing start for FC Buffalo which dropped its season and home opener, 2-0, to Fort Pitt Regiment at Robert E. Rich All-High Stadium Friday night.
After a scoreless first half, Fort Pitt opened the scoring in the 56th minute when Lucas Godinho made a run off the ball from center mid then got a step on Buffalo’s Robert Williamson before beating goalkeeper Jeremy Figler.
The lead grew to 2-0 in the 82nd minute when Fort Pitt substitute Marc Alexander showed great patience, sliced around a defender, then around Figler before tapping the ball into an empty net.
Last season, FC Buffalo went 4-1-1 to post its second straight winning campaign, although they failed to make the playoffs.
