Eden Central School Board members have scheduled a community forum and budget workshop on Tuesday to discuss what to do in the wake of the defeat of its proposed 2018-19 budget.
The forum, which starts at 6 p.m. in the Junior/Senior High School cafeteria, will be followed by a special meeting of the School Board.
Voters Tuesday turned down the budget, 517-388. The district was hoping to exceed the tax cap on the levy, which would have required a 60 percent approval.
Eden's tax cap is 0.46 percent. The defeated budget included a 2 percent increase in the tax levy.
After a budget is voted down, school boards can schedule another vote on the statewide re-vote day, June 19, or the board can adopt a contingency budget that does not increase taxes. The district must go to a contingency budget if the budget is defeated a second time.
