Amherst police ID driver in pedestrian fatality and seek witnesses, video

Amherst police said Michael O. Ohare Jr., 22, of Rochester, was the driver who fatally struck an Amherst woman as she crossed Niagara Falls Boulevard Saturday.

Jennifer L. Duffin, 41, was crossing in the 2000 block of the boulevard, between Inn Keepers Lane and Willow Ridge Drive, at 12:42 a.m. Saturday when she was struck by a 2007 Pontiac driven by Ohare.

Police said Ohare pulled over immediately and has cooperated with the investigation. No charges have been filed, but the investigation is ongoing.

Accident investigators are searching for any witnesses or video of the crash.

Duffin's death was the latest in a string of six pedestrian fatalities on a 6-mile stretch of Niagara Falls Boulevard between the Buffalo city line and the Niagara County border at Tonawanda Creek over the last five years.
