WNY Driver of the Week: Brett Senek

Driver: Brett Senek.

Age: 22.

Hometown: Ransomville.

Division: DIRTcar Sportsman/Ransomville Speedway.

Lowdown: Senek has steadily moved up through the divisional ranks at Ransomville Speedway during his career. He placed a close second to Adam Leslie in Ransomville's season-opening Sportsman 25-lapper last Friday evening. Senek is balancing his life as both a weekend race car driver and also being currently enrolled as a college student at Alfred State College,where he is majoring in diesel mechanical technology and will be a senior this coming fall.

Accomplishments: Senek began his career at Ransomville in the track's popular Go-Kart program at age 10, purchasing his Go-Kart from Roy and Ryan Susice. His rookie Go-Kart campaign in Junior 1 in 2007 included seven consecutive wins and that year's Ransomville Junior 1 championship. In all, Senek drove in Go-Kart competition about eight years, also winning two additional Ransomville titles, one each in Junior Restricted and Stock Medium. He drove at many other Go-Kart tracks as well. Next Senek moved up to the 4-Banger stock car class when he was 17. He was victorious four times at Ransomville in his rookie 4-Banger campaignm his only year in that class. The next season Senek progressed to the Street Stocks, buying a car from fellow racer Alex Morris. Senek triumphed in a pair of Ransomville Street Stock contests his only year in the class and the following season moved to the DIRTcar Sportsman, where he has taken the  Ransomville checkered flag twice in four years. Senek has won specialty season awards at Ransomville, including Most Improved Sportsman Driver in 2017, Street Stock Rookie of the Year and Sportsman Rookie of the Year.

Favorite Food: "For dinner it's steak and for lunch whatever I can find in the refrigerator."

Favorite Music: Country.
