Office manager pleads guilty again in $318,000 theft from employer

An office manager who stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from his employer pleaded guilty – again – to three felony charges.

The embezzlement case involving William Gajewski, 56, of Amherst, moved from Erie County Court, where his earlier guilty pleas were vacated in January, to State Supreme Court, where Gajewski admitted to grand larceny, forgery and criminal tax fraud.

Beginning in March 2015, Gajewski stole more than $318,000 from Buffalo Rheumatology and Medicine in Orchard Park and falsified a letter from a medical foundation thanking the practice for its $5,000 donation – money that went to Gajewski.

Gajewski admitted to lying on state tax returns and failing to pay $11,744 in back taxes from 2016.

Gajewski has made full restitution to the state and medical office, said Assistant District Attorney Gary M. Ertel of the District Attorney's Office.

Gajewski returns to court for sentencing on Aug. 1.
