Owner of America's Best Value Inn in Clarence sells hotel to cousin

The owner of the La Quinta Inn & Suites Buffalo Airport in Lancaster has bought the America's Best Value Inn & Suites in Clarence from his cousin.

Martin Patel paid $1.2 million on Friday to buy the hotel at 9370 Main St., just east of Goodrich Road, from Atish Patel, according to Martin Patel and the deed filed with Erie County.

Martin Patel said his cousin wanted to sell the America's Best because he will operate the larger Courtyard by Marriott, at 4100 Sheridan Drive in Amherst, that Rudra Management and Rosewoood Hotels bought in October.

Martin Patel said he plans to make extensive exterior improvements to the Clarence hotel, and some inside as well, but it will remain an America's Best.

The 32-room hotel was known as the Village Haven Motel until it changed brands in 2012.
