The Monday morning fog isn't lifting.
It may continue through the afternoon, the National Weather Service announced about 2 p.m. in a special weather statement for northern Erie County.
"Areas of fog have re-developed again early this afternoon right along the lakeshore," the weather service said. "Some of the fog could be locally dense at times through at least mid-afternoon."
The weather service said the impacted areas are expected to be in and around downtown Buffalo, the Buffalo Harbor and the Skyway.
Motorists were advised to use caution and slow down when traveling because objects on and near roadways won't be visible until they're in close range, the weather service said.
The weather service said that low-level moisture created by a southwesterly flow of air off of Lake Erie was helping to create the fog today.
"Low-level moisture is also creating some patchy fog across the western Southern Tier to a lesser extent," the weather service said. "This fog and low stratus deck will slowly lift with improving conditions expected later this morning."
