Bills president and co-owner Kim Pegula reiterated last week that the team intends to continue to hold training camp at St. John Fisher in Rochester. On Friday, Sen. Charles E. Schumer said the Bills have assured him that's still the plan.
The team has been at Fisher each summer since 2000 and has four years remaining on its current agreement with the school.
Speculation in the Rochester area suggested that Russ Brandon's resignation as president might lead to the team hosting training camp at its facilities in Orchard Park. Brandon is a Fisher alumnus and is on its board of directors.
Pegula grew up in Fairport, a Rochester suburb, and considers the Rochester area her hometown.
Schumer spoke with the Bills on Thursday night and issued a statement Friday that again reiterated what Pegula said a week earlier.
“I’ve spoken to the Bills and they have assured me that they love hosting training camp at St. John Fisher and with four more years left on the current agreement they have no plans to make a change,” Schumer said.
The Bills have not released dates for this year's training camp.
