Jason Barrett of Black Button Distilling was honored as small business person of the year, by the Small Business Administration's Buffalo district office.
Black Button has locations in Rochester and Buffalo. Barrett received his recognition as part of the SBA's celebration of Small Business Week. The SBA and Buffalo Niagara SCORE held an awards ceremony on Friday, honoring area companies and advocates for them.
The SBA's Buffalo district office covers the 14 westernmost counties of New York State. The other award recipients were:
716 Home Inspections, home-based business of the year; Chef’s restaurant, family-owned business of the year; Jonathon Ling, financial services champion of the year; Tammy Worden, ConServe, government contracting champion of the year.
Also: John Vitale, chairman, SCORE Buffalo Niagara, district director’s recognition award; Herbert Courtney, minority small business champion of the year; Helene Biandudi Hofer, women in business champion of the year; William Ritter, SCORE, upstate New York, district director’s special award of distinction and achievement; Vanocur Refractories, exporter of the year; and William Smalley Cleary, veterans champion of the year.
