'Run for Kindness 5K' is set for Saturday at Delaware Park

Online registration ends Wednesday for the second annual Run for Kindness 5K, which begins at 9 a.m. Saturday in Delaware Park.

The run is held in memory of Maksym Sugorovskiy, the 3-year-old boy killed in May 2015 when a car veered off Route 198 and struck him on the park's ring road.

Visit runsignup.com/Race/NY/Buffalo/RunforKindness to sign up for $22. Limited race day registrations will be available for $25. Children 13 and under are free. Proceeds benefit Maksym's Giving Tree Foundation, which seeks to continue the child’s legacy of kindness and giving. The foundation has donated several therapeutic bikes to local children with range of motion limitations.

A post-run party, including refreshments, a basket raffle and awards, at the Parkside Lodge will follow. The run is a USA Track & Field sanctioned race and will be professionally timed.
