So much for the reunion of the sons of Don Beebe and Frank Reich.
Northern Illinois wide receiver Chad Beebe, who had been invited to try out with Reich's Indianapolis Colts, signed with the Minnesota Vikings on Monday after taking part in a tryout as part of rookie minicamp. He was among four players signed by the Vikings.
Beebe had interest from the Vikings and Colts, but the Vikings' minicamp was last weekend so they got the first opportunity. The Colts' rookie minicamp is this weekend.
Beebe, who was born five months after the Buffalo Bills’ fourth Super Bowl loss, has struggled with injuries during his high school and college careers but is hoping for a new beginning in the NFL.
“Some people think I’m crazy to continue to play,” Beebe told the Chicago Tribune. “But this is what I need to be doing right now. It’s my passion.
“It’s funny, my parents had me try all sports when I was young and I just gravitated to it, especially offense. I love the game, love the feel of game day and putting the pads and cleats on.”
