Broadcasters, coach's wife set for honorary degrees at Niagara

Niagara University will present honorary degrees to American and Canadian broadcasters and to Barbara Layden, wife of legendary Purple Eagles basketball coach Frank Layden, during commencements at Artpark in Lewiston.

Layden will be honored at the graduate school commencement Thursday night, when Toronto radio broadcaster Libby Znaimer will speak.

The speaker at the business, education and hospitality commencement Saturday morning will be John Quiñones, anchor of ABC’s "What Would You Do?" hidden camera series. Niagara Falls High School principal Robert L. Bradley Jr. also will be honored.

At Saturday afternoon's arts and sciences commencement, the speaker will be Roland Fryer, an economics professor at Harvard University. Another honorary degree will go to the Very Rev. Stephen Grozio, provincial superior of the Vincentian order that operates Niagara.
