A Mental Health Awareness Informational Fair will be held Thursday at the Central Library on Lafayette Square from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with more than 25 community agencies providing information and seminars.
At noon, the event will move outside for a few minutes for the 6th Annual Mental Health Awareness Flash Mob. (Wear bright green to join in.)
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, when the public is reminded that mental health issues affect up to 10 million adults and five million children every year. The economic cost of untreated mental health is estimated to be more than $100 billion annually in the United States.
The library event is organized by the Restoration Society, BestSelf Behavioral Health, Buffalo & Erie County Public Library, Buffalo Psychiatric Center and Mental Health Peer Connection.
