Buffalo woman believes couple's attack on her car was hate crime

An East Side woman told Buffalo Police that an unknown man and woman, both white, damaged her car and screamed racial slurs at her Saturday afternoon.

The woman reported that, at around 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of Fillmore Avenue and William Street, the man damaged her car with a hammer while the woman threw some kind of sticky substance on the car, according to police. The victim told police that both suspects screamed slurs during the incident before fleeing the scene.

Police have the license plate number of the suspects' car and also took photos at the scene. There also were other witnesses. The suspects are being sought on possible hate crime and felony criminal mischief charges.
