West Seneca man with fake $100 bills charged with robbery

A West Seneca man is accused of robbery and using fake $100 bills to obtain an iPhone 8 from someone he met on Facebook, Buffalo police said Saturday.

The suspect arrived at the man's South Buffalo address  in a silver Chevy Impala around 8:30 p.m. Friday and may have displayed a knife from inside the vehicle, according to police reports.

The suspect then grabbed the iPhone from the man by force and gave him six $100 "Motion Picture" bills, police said. He fled the scene, but was later tracked down by police in West Seneca.

Jahaun M. Butler, 20, of West Seneca was charged with third-degree robbery and third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Police also reported on Saturday another incident where a Skip the Dishes customer paid an order with a $100 bill marked "For Motion Picture Use Only."

It was not immediately clear whether the two cases were related.
