New York will celebrate the seventh annual I Love My Park Day on Saturday with volunteers lending a hand to improve more than 135 state parks, historic sites and public lands, and national parks.
The volunteers will do clean up in parks, plant trees and gardens, restore trails and wildlife habitat, and remove invasive species.
Among the Western New York locations where people can participate are: Artpark; Evangola, Knox Farm, Long Point, Niagara Falls, Whirlpool and Wilson Tuscarora state parks; and Boutwell Hill, Golden Hill State Park, Harris Hill, and Phillips Creek state forests.
Registration for events at Allegany State Park and Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve-is at capacity.
The day is coordinated by Parks & Trails New York and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, in partnership with local Friends groups and with financial support from AT&T. To register to volunteer, go to ptny.org and click on the I Love My Park Day link.
