Music Mania concert series opens in Town of Niagara June 11

Town of Niagara Supervisor Lee Wallace has released the schedule for the 2018 Music Mania Mondays free concert events, beginning June 11 at Veteran’s Memorial Community Park, Lockport Road.

Opening acts take the stage at 6:30 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. intermission, followed by the headliners. The season opens with Seventh Sign and Fleetwood Mania; followed by Storm Watch and The Wholigans on June 18; The Vehicle and Bruce in the USA on June 25; and the Frank Grizanti Trio and Absolute Journey July 2.

A special “Pride in the Park” Independence Day celebration with fireworks is planned for July 7, featuring Chicago Authority, McCartney Yesterday and Today, Keep the Faith and Killer Queen. In addition, a Classic Car Show is planned for Aug. 6, when musical guests will be USA Band and Eliminator.

Rounding out the season are: White Chocolate and The Legend Continues on July 9; The Strangers and Night Fever on July 16; Flipside and Straight On on July 23; Party Squad and The BBC Band on July 30; Double Take and Floyd Concept on Aug. 13; and NY Rockin Revue and Nerds Gone Wild to close out the series Aug. 20.

Concert goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets and no alcoholic drinks or pets are allowed except certified service dogs. The park is a smoke free zone.

The combination of great opening local bands and the outstanding national and regional tribute bands should make this most successful Music Mania Mondays season to date,” said Wallace.

The Music Mania Mondays concerts will again feature popular local food vendors, a beer and wine tent manned by Niagara Active Hose volunteers and grilled summer treats and soft drinks sold by the Town of Niagara Lions Club.

“Our summer concert series has become a great source of revenue for Niagara Active Hose, the Lions Club and local not-for-profits who sell 50/50 tickets at all events,” said Wallace. “We have had a tremendous increase in sponsor support this year, which is very gratifying.

“This concert series began as an entertainment event, but now it is so much more,” he added. “It has become a gathering place on a Monday night for residents young and old and it is so gratifying to see the outpouring of support.”

Premier sponsors include; Republic Services, Tim Horton’s, Rich Products and radio sponsor 97 Rock.
