Lockport filmmaker to be honored by alma mater

Paul Lamont, a documentary filmmaker from Lockport, will be honored as Western New York Filmmaker of the Year Saturday at the Niagara County Community College Film and Animation Festival. Lamont is a 1986 graduate of NCCC’s Communication and Media Arts program.

Lamont has produced, written and directed numerous documentary films for national and regional PBS. Past films include: “in/word/out,” “Fading in the Mist,” “Enduring Faith,” “Driven to Play,” “Frank Lloyd Wright’s Buffalo,” “Dangerous Silence,” “Herbert Hauptman: Portrait of a Laureate,” “Elbert Hubbard: An American Original” and “Glorious Battle.”

Lamont has also worked on other PBS projects including the Emmy Award-winning documentary, “Honorable Nations.” In 2017, “Lake of Betrayal” was released nationally to PBS and later this year, the feature length documentary, “The Songpoet” about legendary singer/songwriter, Eric Andersen, will be released.
