Burger King at Main and Utica sold for $1.64 million

The property housing a longtime Burger King restaurant at the corner of Main and Utica streets has been sold by the franchisee company for $1.64 million.

Syracuse-based Carrols Restaurant Group Inc. sold the 3,143-square-foot fast-food restaurant at 1358 Main St. to Blondie Buffalo LLC. The buyer is registered to the address of Riverbank Management, a real estate investment and management firm.

Built in 1979, the restaurant sits on just over one acre of land. It was acquired last September by Carrols from prior operator TLT & J LLC for $1.4 million.

In February 2017, Carrols won city approval to renovate the facade of the restaurant – one of the oldest Burger King sites in the region – with new siding and window treatments, while also converting the entry vestibule into bathrooms and moving the entrance. As part of the $300,000 project, the operator also planned to widen the drive-thru lane, widen the sidewalk and create new landscaping.

The company had previously sought permission to knock the one-story facility down entirely and rebuild a new two-story restaurant, but that idea was shelved after the Zoning Board of Appeals declined to grant a variance.
