Buffalo Naval park director resigns over dispute with board

Today is Brian Roche's last day as executive director of the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park, a move the comes a little more than a year after he took the post.

Roche submitted his resignation April 12, he told The Buffalo News.

Roche, a retired Coast Guard captain, said he decided to submit his resignation because of a difference of opinion with the leadership of the organization's board over "how the daily operations of the park should be run."

"I felt it was best, if we weren't going to find a happy medium, that they could move on and find somebody else," he told The News. He declined to elaborate on any specific issues. "Staying here would not be the best thing for the park, in my eyes," he said.

Roche, who is originally from Long Island, became executive director of the park on April 10, 2017, he said. He was in charge of the Coast Guard Station in Buffalo from July 2013 to July 2016.
