PYLE, Roger E.

PYLE - Roger E. Of Jekyll Island, a retired attorney from Gowanda, NY. Beloved father died Tuesday, April 3, 2018. He is survived by his devoted daughter Pamela and son-in-law James Brown (who he called son) and his sweetheart Juna Todd. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly (Herbert Sr.) Leising; niece, Nancy (Jeffrey) McDonald; nephews, Kevin Pyle, Herbert (Linda) Leising Jr., Thomas (Jennifer) Leising and Roger Leising; also great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Jean M. Pyle; his parents, William and Anna Pyle; and his brother, William (late Joan) Pyle. Mr. Pyle served in the Army and Army Reserve as a Clerk Typist which helped him pay for his education. He was stationed at Ford Gordon, GA. His last duty assignment was 402nd Civil Affairs Co. He always said he would not go back to Georgia because of the snakes... and then he came to Jekyll Island, which he said was nothing like the Army. Mr. Pyle attended the University of Buffalo where he obtained a degree in Business Administration and a Juris Doctorate. He met Jean in law school where she was the only woman in their law school class of 1960. Upon graduating from law school, he joined his father-in-law's law office in Gowanda with Jean and formed the firm of Musacchio & Pyle. He had a heart for children and also worked as an attorney for Social Services for 30 years where he was presented with a retirement clock "In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Department of Social Services and the children of Cattaraugus
County." He and his wife were always very proud of their daughter's professional accomplishments. Pamela also attended law school at the University of Buffalo and is practicing law as in house counsel at HSBC Bank USA, N.A. Roger was a member of the Jekyll Island United Methodist Church where he attended Sunday school, had been a member of the choir, and had served on the Personnel Committee. He was also a member of the Jekyll Island Men's Golf Association ("JIMGA") where he enjoyed playing with various leagues, particularly after a 30 year hiatus from golf. He also greatly enjoyed his Monday night poker games with the gang. Throughout his life humor was important - he shared many jokes and stories with family and friends over the years. Prior to moving to Jekyll Island (which his daughter referred to as running away from home) he was a member and officer in Dunkirk Yacht Club, member of the Cattaraugus Bar Association, and member of the New York Bar Association. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and boater. He also enjoyed playing the piano, singing, and dancing. A Funeral Service will be from the First Presbyterian Church, 64 East Main Street, Gowanda, NY 14070 on Friday, April 27th at 12:30 PM with Rev. Donna Kay Lewis, Pastor, officiating. A luncheon with be held at the church following the service. Honorary pallbearers are the Monday Night Poker Gang and JIMGA. Flowers are gratefully declined.
