Pedestrian struck on Buffalo's East Side remains in serious condition

A 60-year-old man struck by a driver in what police described as a hit-and-run on the city's East Side late Tuesday afternoon remains in serious condition at Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo police said Wednesday.

The man was hit on Burgard Place between Genesee and Doat streets. Police received the report of a pedestrian struck at about 5 p.m.

A female driver who police were told left the scene and who was later located is now cooperating with investigators, Buffalo Police Capt. Jeff Rinaldo said.

The vehicle and driver, whose name was not released by police, were located after witnesses gave license plate information to police. The driver is claiming she stopped at the scene, but police have yet to interview the victim, Rinaldo said.

The Erie County District Attorney's Office is reviewing the case and potential charges, Rinaldo said.
