WNY Refresh and the Wellness Institute of Greater Buffalo will kick off the institute’s outdoor Walking to Wellness season on Wednesday at The Buffalo News.
Refresh Editor Scott Scanlon and Wellness Institute Executive Director Phil Haberstro will lead the walk.
The event will begin with a wellness fair at 11 a.m. inside the lobby of The News, at One News Plaza, along Canalside.
A 30-minute walk – recommended five times a week by the U.S. surgeon general – will start at 12:15 p.m. and cover parts of downtown.
Wednesday is National Walk at Lunch Day.

The Wellness Institute has set a goal of 100 million steps for related activities this year, including Explore Buffalo tours (explorebuffalo.org), which accounted for 39 million steps last year.
