BLAINE, Patricia "Tish"

BLAINE - Patricia "Tish"
February 7, 1929 - April 13, 2018. A loving mother, professional figure skater and interior designer, passed away peacefully in Sarasota, FL on April 13, 2018. She was 89 years old. A native of Buffalo, Tish was the wife of the late Charles G. Blaine, partner in the Phillips Lytle law firm, and daughter of the late Helen Blackman and Dr. William H. Stapleton. A graduate of Bennett High School, she attended Katharine Gibbs College in Boston, MA. She was the former wife of the late Lawrence Griffis, Jr., a prominent local artist, with whom she had seven children. A Buffalo Skating Club champion, Tish served as a judge and ice dance instructor. She was an avid swimmer and tennis player, and had an interest in art and antiques. A former volunteer of the Albright Knox Gallery and Seton Guild, she enjoyed memberships at the Tennis and Squash Club, Buffalo Club, and Garrett Club and was a member of the DAR. She wintered in Venice, FL and loved traveling. Tish is survived by her children Pamela Ferrari Slade (Jarvis), Larry Griffis III (Betsy), Mark Griffis (Patty), Dr. William Griffis (Jennifer), Lisa Griffis Davis (Bruce Friedman), Damian Griffis (Melanie) and stepchildren Cathryn Blaine Muzzy (John), Susan Blaine Nesbitt (John) and Charles G. Blaine, Jr. (Chardel); eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to Charles, she was predeceased by her beloved son Simon Griffis. A Mass will be offered on Saturday, May 5 at 10 am at the Blessed Sacrament Church, 1035 Delaware Ave., followed by a reception for family and close friends at the Buffalo Yacht Club, 1 Porter Ave. Those planning to attend the reception are asked to kindly reply to Damian Griffis at by May 1. Memorial contributions may be made to the Burchfield Penney Art Center or SABAH (Skating Association).
