Forward Victor Olofsson, who spent the season playing in the Swedish Elite League with presumptive No. 1 overall pick Rasmus Dahlin, has signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Buffalo Sabres.
General Manager Jason Botterill hinted at the signing of the 5-foot-11 winger during his end-of-season press conference and it was made official on Tuesday.
Olofsson, 22, was a seventh-round pick of the Sabres in 2014 whose stock has grown with his performances overseas. He had a league-high 27 goals in 50 games this season and had a career-high 43 points.
He has 60 goals and 57 assists in parts of five seasons with Frolunda (Dahlin's team) and Modo. In his three full seasons, Olofsson has 50 goals and 49 assists in 150 games.
