Niagara Falls Water Board crews will begin flushing out fire hydrants this week.
Water users in the areas near the hydrants were to have received notices Friday about the work, which will affect scores of hydrants in an area bounded roughly by 47th and 75th streets, Packard and Military roads and the Niagara Scenic Parkway.
A Water Board spokeswoman said the purpose is to clean out sediment and rust or to maintain proper chlorination levels. Some customers may see cloudy water for a time after the flushing. They should run their hot and cold faucets until the water clears and wash a load of dark clothes before washing any white or light-colored laundry.
