Buffalo police arrest Tonawanda man sitting in tree with burglar tools

A City of Tonawanda man charged with possessing burglar tools outside Home Depot in North Buffalo was arrested by police officers who found him sitting in a tree.

Brett W. Johnson, 24, was arrested at about 4:30 a.m. Thursday, according to a Buffalo police report.

A witness told police Johnson made threats and followed him through a parking lot at the Elmwood Avenue store. Johnson also tried kicking in a large metal door before walking over to a tree and climbing it, the witness told police.

Johnson, of Delaware Street, had a flashlight and utility tool in his pockets when arrested. In addition to possession of burglar tools, he was also charged with disorderly conduct, according to the police report.
