Brandon Beane unknowingly stepped into a hornet's nest Monday.
Appearing on the team-produced "One Bills Live," the Buffalo Bills' general manager was asked by co-host Steve Tasker who will have a seat at the team's draft table later this week.
"It'll be me, Sean, Kim and Terry, Joe Schoen, Terrence Gray, who's our college director, and then Russ Brandon," Beane said. "So that'll be us."
The minute Beane's comment hit social media, reaction was swift – and brutal. While most fans are fine with the team's head coach, owners, assistant general manager and college scouting director having a seat, it was the inclusion of Brandon that has heads spinning.
A sampling of the reaction (keeping in mind this is a family website):
NO, oh God NO! No, No, No!

He’s like a bad penny!

But of course he has no say in the organization 🙄. He’s just a “marketing guy” https://t.co/wSQDyIJf8W

That last tweet correctly sums up the objection most fans have to Brandon being involved in what's looked at as a "football decision." The Bills, and Sabres for that matter, have tried to sell the idea that Brandon is involved only in the team's business operations as president.
When Beane said he'll be in the draft room, people understandably are skeptical about that.
