State police investigate two bodies found in Randolph, Portland

State police on Saturday were investigating the discovery of two men's bodies in separate Southern Tier locations, one in Randolph, east of Jamestown, and one in the Town of Portland, southwest of Dunkirk.

Troopers from the Jamestown barracks responded to a report by a driver at 3:20 p.m. of a male body spotted near a creek just off Route 20 in the Town of Portland, where they recovered the remains.

Almost two hours later, troopers were called to where another unidentified male body was seen just off Swanson Hill Road in the Town of Randolph, in Cattaraugus County near Allegany State Park. The body had been discovered by local residents, who notified police.

Both bodies will be autopsied to determine their identities and causes of death.

Officials stressed that the investigations are ongoing, and would not provide further information.
