The City of Tonawanda and St. Francis of Assisi Church are looking for volunteers, sponsors and vendors to plan a comprehensive services fair that will offer one-stop shopping so those in need can find out what help is available.
The city and church, partners in the fair, are seeking businesses, organizations and individuals to donate money or volunteer time. The first-ever event in Tonawanda is planned from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 27, but the planning committee needs help now, said Tonawanda Common Council President Jenna Koch, who is leading the effort with the Rev. Mike Uebler, pastor of St. Francis.
So far, 35 vendors have committed to discuss the resources they offer residents. Koch said it will let residents learn about "assistance, benefits, services, and support that is available throughout our county and city."
"We anticipate that this is going to be a big event," Koch said. "That's why we'er getting the word out now."
