Letter: Country Music Awards show was wholesome entertainment

Country Music Awards show was wholesome entertainment

Sunday night, I made myself comfortable on the couch, turned on the TV and watched the Academy of Country Music Awards hosted by Reba McEntire. The show was filled with great people, great music and, best of all, no Jimmy Kimmel, no vulgarities, no disparaging disregard for our law enforcement or the president of our country.

I was treated to a wonderful show for people to enjoy. A show where you could thump your shoe, tap your fingers and kind of hum the tune. Music you could understand and dance to with your partner. You don’t get any better than that.

Kudos to CBS for putting forth a show families could enjoy without the fear of a bunch of self-serving two-bit atrocities ruining an entertaining few hours for great American families.

Carroll Burnett, Ed Sullivan and many others made what entertainment used to be – entertaining. I hope I’m watching a return of those enjoyable old-fashioned values.
