A taxi driver crashed into another vehicle when a fare tried robbing him at gunpoint early Friday morning just north of Delaware Park, according to a Buffalo police report.

The attempted robbery happened on Middlesex Road between Delaware Avenue and Lincoln Parkway. The taxi driver told police he picked up two men at about 1:45 a.m. at the Utica Street Station at Main and East Utica streets, according to the report.

He dropped off one of the men at Main and Michigan Avenue and when driving to drop off the second fare, the man pulled out a gun and put his arm around the taxi driver's neck, demanding money. After the crash, the suspect got out of the taxi and ran west on Middlesex, according to the report.
