Buffalo man, 21, charged in shooting in downtown bus terminal

A 21-year-old man was shot in the chest Friday evening during an alleged altercation in the downtown Metropolitan Transportation Center at 181 Ellicott St.

Trevor Martin, 21, was charged with first-degree assault. Martin is accused of shooting Devan Wright, 21, according to an updated statement from the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority, which operates the downtown bus terminal.

Wright was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where he was recovering in the Trauma Intensive Care Unit.

Buffalo and NFTA Transit Police responded to the shooting at about 7:30 p.m. Police later cordoned off an area around the restroom.

The two men allegedly argued near the bathroom inside the bus terminal prior to the shooting.

Officers continue to speak with witnesses. Buffalo Police are assisting the investigation.
