There was a little bit of rust for Buffalo Bisons Friday night. After a week off thanks to weather issues, the Herd took the field against the Norfolk Tides in Virginia, falling 5-2.
Norfolk built a 3-0 lead through the first two innings before Dalton Pompey got the Bisons on the board with a solo home run in the third.
It was the first game for Pompey this season. The outfielder was in extended spring training after being placed on the 10-day disabled list for a sprained right wrist.
The Tides extended the lead thanks to Anderson Feliz knocking in a run on a single in the third and via groundout in the fifth.
The Bisons got a run back in the seventh on an RBI single from Rowdy Tellez and the Bisons got two base runners in the ninth, but failed to score again.
Noteworthy: Pompey went 1 for 3 with a walk and a strike out. ... Anthony Alford also made his season debut after starting on the DL with a hamstring injury. He went 1 for 5. ... Ryan Borucki fell to 0-2 giving up four runs on 10 hits, issuing two walks and striking out three. ... In roster moves, RHP Murphy Smith was placed on DL while OF Ian Parmley, C Michael De La Cruz and LHP Chad Girodo were transferred to extended spring training.
