Jeff Miers' Playlist: Kamasi Washington, A Perfect Circle, Ghost, more

A Perfect Circle, "So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish"

The fourth advance single from A Perfect Circle's fourth album – "Eat the Elephant," due April 20 – takes its name from the Douglas Adams trilogy "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." It's at once buoyant and biting. Classic APC, then.

Kamasi Washington, "The Space Travelers Lullaby"

Like a love song to Alice Coltrane's lush, other-worldly early '70s fare, this 10-minute track from Washington's third album marries dense string arrangements and a choral arrangement to searing sax lines. I'm in love.

Ghost, "Rats"

Creepy and pretty brilliant. Classic metal updated for the end-days.

Tristan de Leige, "Kosame"

This young Los Angeles artist is bringing a serious composer's ethic to modern electronic music. A fascinating, moody and ruminative album meant to be listened to in one sitting.

From Beyond, "Blooming Sun"

Austin, Texas space-rockers combine sludge, melody and gluey, ponderous tempos in service of a massive wall of sound. Good times.
