A screening of the documentary "Farmers for America" is scheduled for at 7 p.m. Friday in Grand Island High School, 1100 Ransom Road.
The event is being sponsored by the Board of Directors of Grand Island Farms, a non-profit group of family-owned farms and community members.
The documentary, narrated by Mike Rowe, outlines the changes coming to America as more consumers flock to farmers' markets, embrace farm-to-table lifestyles and insist on knowing where their food comes from.
The future of farming and farming communities discussed in this special screening will be followed by a panel discussion with local farmers and agricultural experts.
Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at www.grandislandfarmersmarket.com. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Ticket sales will benefit Grand Island Farms Inc. and the Grand Island High School Greenhouse Club.
