Anita Alvarez of Buffalo and Cassandra Neeley of Williamsville will compete with the U.S. Senior National Synchronized Swimming in the China Open starting on Friday in Beijing. It’s the first event of 10 events on the FINA-Sanctioned World Series.
Alvarez, a 2016 Olympian, will compete with 15-year-old Ruby Remati of Andover, Mass. in the duet competition. Remati might be the youngest competitor in the event.
"Those two match so well - they look like sisters," said Lolli Montico, U.S. coach. "They are both very light in the water. Ruby is very young and incredibly talented. I am super confident in them and am willing to work hard with them to lead them to a higher world ranking."
Alvarez and Remati also will compete in duet at the next World Series event, the Japan Open in Tokyo, April 28-30.
