A Cattaraugus County man was stopped on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and arrested Saturday after State Police said they observed him making an unsafe lane change, according to State Police.
James M. Nelson, 62, of Freedom, was charged with making an unsafe lane change and felony driving while intoxicated, State Police said.
Nelson was arrested after 9:30 p.m. Saturday, State Police said.
State Police said they stopped Nelson on Church Road in Yorkshire for allegedly failing to maintain his lane. Nelson was administered standard field sobriety tests, which he allegedly failed, State Police said.
Nelson was taken to the State Police Barracks in Machias, where he allegedly refused to provide a breath sample, State Police said. Nelson was arraigned in Yorkshire Town Court, State Police said.
