Spring cleaning underway in Village of Youngstown

Spring cleanup will continue through April 23 in the Village of Youngstown. During this period, village workers will pick up grass, leaves, small twigs and branches, but residents are urged to observe the “Just Mow It” program and return grass clippings to the lawns throughout mowing season.

Modern Disposal will not pick up bagged grass clippings. There are concrete bunkers at 707 Nancy Price Dr., but only Youngstown residents are permitted to use this site for twigs, grass, leaves and branches.

Brush pickup will begin April 30 and run every Monday through Sept. 24. During this period, only brush will be picked up, no grass or leaves. If Monday is a holiday, it will take place on Tuesday. If private contractors are hired for lawn work, they are responsible for removing all debris.

Electronic recycling is available for Youngstown residents at the Town of Porter Highway Department, 1800 Braley Road.  Call 791-3831 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. before taking electronic items there to recycle.

Call village offices at 745-7721 or the Department of Public Works at 745-7839<cq> for further information.
