North Tonawanda postpones walking tours for neighborhood improvement

Two walking tours scheduled today in North Tonawanda, to solicit public input on neighborhood improvements in the downtown area, have been called off because of the wet weather.

One tour was to have started in the Rainbow Roller Rink parking lot, 101 Oliver St., to look at Oliver Street's intersections with Goundry and Thompson streets.

Another tour was to visit the River Road intersections with Goundry and Thompson. Both will be rescheduled.

A third tour at 5 p.m. April 30 will meet at Webster and Main streets and focus on the Webster Street triangle.

In October, the city received a $2.5 million state Smart Growth grant for improvement planning and hired Joy Kuebler Landscape Architects of North Tonawanda to handle the design work.
