After an eight-month moratorium, the Clarence Town Board has adopted a local law on "small wireless facilities."
The law was passed Wednesday. Supervisor Patrick Casilio said it will focus on the location of microcell towers, which are small towers used to enhance signal strength for cellphones.
Director of Community Development James B. Callahan said the law encourages co-location of the towers on existing poles and buildings.
"We've got streets with no utility poles and we certainly don't want a new pole going up," said Callahan. "We are trying, to the best of our ability, to control the visual impact."
